Criminal Justice (CJ)

This program is designed to prepare students for a wide variety of careers in the criminal justice system including: careers in the court system, social work, or corrections. Other career options include uniformed police officer, security or corrections officer and/or probation officer. Students interested in a career in one of the federal agencies (FBI, DEA, Secret Service), forensics, criminal investigations, or the legal profession can use this program as a pathway to a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or to move on to Law School.

The Tech Prep Lab consists of classes that deliver hands-on training in areas such as security and corrections, court procedures, probation systems, public speaking, computer operations, and traffic accident investigation. Second year lab includes evaluations and visits to local, state, and federal agencies; report writing; technical equipment; investigation techniques; crime lab; and first responder. The lab classes are taught at The Tech Center between 7:55-10:32 a.m. for Seniors and 12:10-2:47 p.m. for Juniors. Both academic and technical classes are taught at Terra Community College for college credit during both the Junior and Senior years.
