The Vanguard Sentinel Aspire Program offers free adult education classes to all who are eligible! Aspire supports students in reaching a wide range of educational goals. Classes equip students with the skills they need to prepare for the GED® or HiSET® high school equivalency tests, college, an apprenticeship, a certificate training program, workforce training, or a career. We are prepared to help adult learners improve their academic skills and create a pathway to a better future. Our program is made possible by Aspire Grant funding through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Students can begin by registering for the program online or calling our office. Once eligibility is determined, all students must complete orientation. During orientation, students learn about the program, complete paperwork and orientation activities, examine their learning styles, set career and education goals, and take initial assessments to determine academic strengths and weaknesses before getting started in class. Our teachers work together with each student to create an individualized learning plan that best fits their goals.

Aspire classes provide instruction focused on improving reading, math, writing, language, science, social studies, digital literacy, workforce, and career readiness skills. Our instructors are equipped to help students achieve their goals and prepare for the next step! Students who earn their high school equivalence credential by passing the GED® test or HiSET® exam are invited to our annual Aspire Graduation Ceremony.

Our program offers classes to help students prepare to take or re-take the ACCUPLACER test for entry into Terra State Community College or other colleges. Instructors can work with students to prepare for other college entry exams, credentialing exams, and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
