Camp Counselor

CAMP COUNSELOR

Seasonal Position (June – August 2025)

Worksite: Creek Bend Farm Wilson Nature Center

Work Schedule: Generally – First Shift (8:00am-5:00pm)

Weekends, holidays and additional hours as required

Reports To: Program Supervisor

 

MINUMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications: Experience working with children. Enjoys working outdoors. Basic knowledge of local natural resources.  Preference given to those who have earned or are working towards a degree in Education, Interpretation, Natural Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or related field.  Must be 18 years of age at start of employment; Confident public speaker to all ages.  Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: First aid/CPR certification required; references required; must pass background check; have an acceptable driving record if licensed; must meet the requirements for being insured by the Park District’s insurance provider.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:  The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive. Vehicles, A/V equipment, hand tools; power tools; yard mower; blowers, weed whip computer and other office equipment; computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, data collection software; inventory and facility management software, Internet web browser, electronic mail software, etc.); custodial equipment; other programming equipment.

 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Supervises campers; Provide first aid to campers in accordance with camp policies; Willingness to work with others in a team environment; exhibit a professional manner with patrons/volunteers; works with/mentors youth camp volunteers; assists with cleaning, customer service and clerical work; assists with animal care and upkeep of program animals; develops nature camp curriculum associated with outdoor education, nature interpretation, assist with kayaking and canoeing, conduct overnight camp-out; environmental sciences, preservation, wise use of natural resources, historical/cultural education, the arts and related topics. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

 

   

STARTING WAGE:

$14.00 / hourly

Beach Guard

SEASONAL BEACH GUARD

 

Seasonal Position (2025 Summer Season May 24 – September 1)

Up to 40 hours per week (weekend & holidays)

Work Location:  White Star Park Beach

 

Beach Guard Certification and Re-Certifications are provided at no cost

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Under immediate supervision of the Beach Guard Manager, monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to patrons; cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas, activities, and conditions; assists swimmers experiencing difficulties and administers first aid and/or CPR as necessary; contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury; assists in facility and equipment maintenance and upkeep; legibly completes and files required forms and reports; provides excellent customer service.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:  An example of acceptable qualifications:

Basic math ability to accurately count and handle money or any combination of training, education, and work experience, which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to complete the described duties. Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language. Must be at least 15 years of age.

Lifesaving flotation devices; whistle; telephone; calculator, cash register, soda fountain, popcorn maker, microwave, ice maker, computer, printer.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: First aid, CPR, and Red Cross lifeguard certification obtained by the start of the beach season. Work permit if under 18 years of age.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers and other park patrons; cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas, activities, and conditions; assists swimmers experiencing difficulties and administers first aid and/or CPR as necessary; contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury; communicates with other staff and customers in a courteous and professional manner; assists law enforcement officers, medics, firefighters, and other safety service personnel providing aid to patrons; maintains order in swimming areas; participates in the provision of swimming instructions. Inspects facilities and equipment for cleanliness and condition; assists in facility and equipment maintenance and upkeep; cleans facilities, food preparation, and service equipment to maintain a safe and sanitary work area (e.g., properly disposes of trash; wipes counter tops; washes utensils; cleans appliances; sweeps and mops floors; cleans restrooms and changing rooms; etc.). Legibly completes and files required forms and reports; provides great customer service in a pleasant and professional manner at White Star Beach House during open hours (e.g., receives customers’ orders; operates soda fountain and ice maker to fill orders for soda; serves food and beverages requested by the customer; prepares bills for food and beverages in an accurate manner, using cash register or calculator; communicates to the customer the total cost of the customer’s order; accepts payment from customers for their orders and makes accurate change as necessary; secures cash as directed; etc.); performs minor food prep (e.g., operates popcorn maker to make popcorn; operates microwave to heat food; etc.). Maintains required licensure and certification. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Meets all job safety requirements and all safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Reports To: Stewardship Coordinator / Crew Leader

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: An example of acceptable qualifications:

Experience or certified training in carpentry, electrical, masonry, heavy equipment operation, or other skilled trade or any combination of training, education, and work experience, which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to complete the described duties preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record; must meet the

requirements for being insured by the Park District’s insurance provider.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive.

Pulling trailers; tractor; lawn mower; computer; chain saw; skid steer; power tools; hand tools; all specialized equipment associated with the construction field; computer; computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet web browser, electronic mail software, etc.).

 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Performs skilled and unskilled labor on facilities, construction projects, capital projects, and all other maintenance related projects (e.g., operates power tools and hand tools; etc.); assists with maintenance repair projects including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry projects; assists with vehicle maintenance and cleans facilities; operates light motorized equipment related to year round grounds keeping (e.g., tractor, cars, trucks, lawn mowers, plows, etc.); operates specialized equipment related to land management (e.g., mowing, burning, plowing, seeding, cutting, clearing, excavation, etc.); uses pulling trailers to haul debris; operates chain saw and skid steer as necessary to maintain park areas; assists with implementation of land management practices; helps with programs and events and assists the public as required; assists with logs and records regarding vehicle maintenance, projects, and equipment; uses computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, and/or process information (e.g., uses electronic mail software to send and receive electronic mail as necessary; uses Microsoft Excel to develop and maintain

spreadsheets as necessary; uses Microsoft Word to create and revise documents as necessary;

uses an Internet web browser to research the cost of labor and materials for projects; etc.). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: An example of acceptable qualifications: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; or any combination of training, education and work experience, which provides the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to complete the described duties. Must be at least 15 years of age at time of appointment. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

None; in accordance with O.R.C. 4109.02, age and schooling certificate (i.e., work permit) required if under the age of 18.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Under immediate supervision of the Stewardship Coordinator, assists the department in maintaining Park District facilitates by performing routine, non-skilled grounds maintenance of assigned outside grounds and property; performs general custodial duties; cleans grounds and removes litter, using spiked stick or broom; trims around walks, flower beds, and walls, using clippers and weed cutters; prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs, using shears or pruners; rakes, mulches, and composts leaves; shovels snow from walks and driveways; spreads salt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup; plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, using gardening tools; paints fences and outbuildings; assists with vehicle maintenance and cleans facilities; helps with programs and events and assists the public as required.

Scope of Job:

Setup and operate manually or by CNC machine for production of the line of Company products.

 

Education/Prerequisite Skills:

  • Ability to move parts and equipment in a safe and practical manner.

  • Consistently comply with all applicable safety and health rules and regulations including compliance with a respiratory protection program and hearing conservation, if applicable.
  • Must comply with FAA requirements for “safety sensitive” position.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Due to our company’s position as a key supplier to the US defense industry.  All employees must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.

Duties:

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to work from process sheets, drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Make all required adjustments or changes of machine setup.
  • Maintain machine and equipment in good operating condition by performing minor maintenance such as, cleaning of machine, maintaining proper fluid levels and lubrication.
  • Operate CNC machines in sequence as prescribed, standardized or controlled.
  • Set prescribed speeds, feeds and tooling or within limits select speeds, fees and tooling.
  • Check and indicate parts to ensure that tolerance parameters are being maintained.
  • Replace dulled or damaged tools.
  • Report all defective materials, tooling on programs and other unusual conditions detected to appropriate supervision.
  • Keep work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition follow standard safety regulations.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes (not over OSHA permissible exposure levels)
  • Ability to train other employees, as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work place and equipment, free of FOD.
