This program lets you explore 5-15 various career fields and labs offered at SCTC & VTC over the course of a semester or year based preference and partner school agreement with VSCTC. You will participate for 1-3 weeks within each lab setting with program juniors and seniors to get hands-on education and insight into the career field(s) and possibilities to them as a program student. You will receive high school credit towards a consumer education class entitled “related;” class will introduce concepts covering Safety, Financial Literacy, Career Assessment(s), and Character Education and high school credit for exploring the labs during the enrollment period. You will also be able to compete in SkillsUSA competitions.

Course Topics

  • Exploration of Labs and Program Offerings
  • Safety Unit and possible Certification in Basic First Responder Training and CPR Basics
  • Financial Literacy Unity Focused on Personal Finance, Budgeting, and Real-world Economic Skills
  • Career Education Focusing on Portfolios, Resumes, and Job Applications
  • Character Education Focused: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship

Industry-Recognized Credentials

  • CPR/First Aid
  • OSHA 10-hour certified training
  • Dependent upon Career Center program attending Level 1 or 2

Career Opportunities

Entry Level (with high school diploma and career training)

Students will have a deeper understanding and view of programming offered to them as a Level 2 student and added advantage of trying the programs of choice to make a better-educated decision as to the best program fit for them.

Technical (with CTE training, associate degree, technical certification)

Any Career Field through VSCTC that are Level 1, 2, or 3 based

Professional (with Bachelor's degree and beyond)
