Garden Center Workers
Looking for part-time workers to assist our nursery during the growing season. This will include care of plants, working with customers, and other duties related to the Greenhouse business.
Forklift Mechanic
About the Position
As a Forklift Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance with all Material Handling Equipment involving all customer and vendors of Kenco Fleet Services.
Functions
- Repair and maintain all Material Handling Equipment using standards set by site.
- Responsible for scheduling Planned Maintenance (PM) of all Fleet Services Equipment and keeping updated records of PM’s completed.
- Inspects forklifts and other operating equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
- Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, automated systems, and conveyors, or other components on material handling equipment.
- Communicate any abuse damages to onsite personnel with a detailed description of problem.
- Communicate with KFS Parts Manager on parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment.
- Maintain parts inventory and repair records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork.
- Conducts test of safety equipment to ensure OSHA and operational standards.
- Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
- Must interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner.
- Responsible for general cleanliness of service area always.
Chef/line cook
Chef work with the Executive manager to best serve PIBYC. Keep regular hours Sunday – Saturday and be available for major events and catering events, along with kitchen hours. Chef will mentor and train food service employees on recipe management, food service safety and proper and safe operation of kitchen equipment. Chef will create food specials weekly and for special function’s that are within a sensible budget. Execution of specials is a big part. Chef will be responsible for order supplies and goods necessary to food service and maintain proper inventory. Chef will monitor food usage and inventory to cut back on waste. Chef will ensure proper cleaning methods are in place & followed to meet and exceed all sanitary standards set forth by Ottawa County Board of Health. Chef will work with Executive Manager on menus and catering agreements. Most of all must be a team player and willing to work with club members and other staff.

Salary: $17.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- State approved nursing assistant course completion/certification, or enrollment in approved course per state guidelines.

Dietary Assistant – Cook Positions

Now offering a fulltime position, working a dual role as a Cook and Dietary Assistant!
Shift Available: 10am-6:30pm. Requires every other weekend.
Salary: Cook $16.50-$17 per hour and Dietary Assistant $13-$14/hour based on previous experience
The Cook/Dietary role must meet the following requirements:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving required.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public.
- Ability to make various computations in monitoring inventory, recipe preparation, and keeping work records.
- Possesses adequate strength and endurance to meet the strenuous physical demands of preparing and carrying quantity foods.
- Possesses coordination and dexterity required to prepare food and operate dietary equipment.
- Visual acuity and color discrimination for examining cooked and stored foods; taste and smell discrimination in determining nutritional quality and palatability of foods.
- Work in an area that is often very hot/cold.
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
Part Time Opening:
Dietary Assistant Shift times: 3:30-6:30pm and requires every other weekend
Salary: $13-14 per hour based on previous experience
Part Time Dietary Assistant Requirements:
- Must be willing to work in a Healthcare /Senior Living environment that is taking precautions for COVID-19.
- No experience is required, training will be provided.
- Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
Lube & Tire Maintenance Tech
Perform Preventive Maintenance on Class 6, 7 and 8 Semi trucks.
Security Associate

Quarry Utility/Operator – 2nd shift
Position Summary
This position is responsible for operating trucks and maintaining stockpiles of various stone products in an organized fashion. The Quarry Utility/Operator will primarily be operating a haul truck, locomotive, and will be responsible for feeding material to the crushing plant and stockpiling material.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under immediate supervision of the Beach Guard Manager, monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to patrons; cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas, activities, and conditions; assists swimmers experiencing difficulties and administers first aid and/or CPR as necessary; contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury; assists in facility and equipment maintenance and upkeep; legibly completes and files required forms and reports; provides excellent customer service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: An example of acceptable qualifications: Basic math ability to accurately count and handle money or any combination of training, education, and work experience, which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to complete the described duties. Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language. Must be at least 15 years of age.

Legibly completes and files required forms and reports; provides great customer service in a pleasant and professional manner at White Star Beach House during open hours (e.g., receives customers’ orders; operates soda fountain and ice maker to fill orders for soda; serves food and beverages requested by the customer; prepares bills for food and beverages in an accurate manner, using cash register or calculator; communicates to the customer the total cost of the customer’s order; accepts payment from customers for their orders and makes accurate change as necessary; secures cash as directed; etc.); performs minor food prep (e.g., operates popcorn maker to make popcorn; operates microwave to heat food; etc.). Maintains required licensure and certification. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Meets all job safety requirements and all safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Camp Counselor
CAMP COUNSELOR
Seasonal Position (June – August 2024)
Worksite: Creek Bend Farm Wilson Nature Center
Work Schedule: Generally – First Shift (8:00am-5:00pm)
Weekends, holidays and additional hours as required
Reports To: Program Supervisor
WAGE: $13.00 / hourly
MINUMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications: Experience working with children. Basic knowledge of local natural resources. Preference given to those who have earned or are working towards a degree in Education, Interpretation, Natural Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or related field. Must be 16 years of age at start of employment; Confident public speaker to all ages. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: In accordance with O.R.C. 4109.02, age and schooling certificate (i.e., work permit) required if under the age of 18; First aid/CPR certification preferred; references required; must pass background check; have an acceptable driving record if licensed; must meet the requirements for being insured by the Park District’s insurance provider.
