Student Opportunities

At VSCTC, we’re not just focused on educating students, but also providing opportunities for students to further their teamwork and leadership abilities. By participating in any of our offerings, students can become more marketable in today’s competitive workforce, while sharpening their skills and gaining valuable experience.

Career & Technical Student Organizations

Students are encouraged to participate in the social and learning opportunities offered through membership in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs). The CTSO’s offered include Business Professionals of America (BPA), Educators Rising, Future Farmers of America (FFA), and SkillsUSA. Students may also participate in the Ambassador program, National Technical Honor Society; or become one of the local Rotary Club, Kiwanis, or Exchange Club students of the month.

Drug-Free Clubs of America

Drug-Free Clubs of America (DFCA) rewards drug-free students for their healthy choices, and provides powerful tools to protect members in the face of peer pressure. Students pass a voluntary drug test and receive a photo ID “Club Card,” recognizing them as members. Club Cards are shown at school and in the community to receive rewards for choosing to stay drug-free. Positive reinforcements celebrate drug-free decisions and motivate members to stay on the right track. Random re-testing of members occurs throughout the school year. Members keep their privileges as long as they test drug-free at any given time. Random tests empower members to say, “I Can’t, I could get tested,” as an easy escape from peer pressure. This, along with parental involvement, all work together to give teens the protection they need to make good decisions in the face of drug use.

Esports

Electronic sports (Esports) are competitive, electronic games of strategy that can be played individually or as a team. The versatility of game-play and game genre make Esports one of the most versatile and popular competitions in the world. We’re excited to have an Esports team on our Fremont campus that functions like any other school sport, having both a JV and Varsity squad, with captains and squad leaders. Our team, The Vanguardians, are part of the Esports Ohio League, governed by rules and regulations. Players are provided opportunities for team building, leadership, and developing communication skills.

Community Service

Community service is an important component of Vanguard Sentinel Career & Technology Centers culture. Both staff and students are encouraged to complete service projects and volunteer in the communities we serve. We’re involved in many projects throughout the year such as:

  • Providing services to veterans

  • Helping clean up local drug houses and public spaces

  • Building sheds and playhouses

  • Landscaping areas for local organizations

  • Christmas in a Shoebox for nursing home residents

  • Maintaining a community garden

  • And so much more!
